Summary
The thought is a little nauseating, though. Meryl doesn’t like to consider what kind of person she’s become, to no longer be immediately overwhelmed by such cruelty and loss. Maybe she’s meant to interpret it as some kind of newfound strength, but the ease of which her endurance has grown only makes her feel a little more broken.
Even so, she’d be lost without it.

Summary
"I know it's very forward of me, but I… I know you want to feel good," Meryl said, voice softening. She took a step forward and placed her hands on Vash's shoulders. She was so tiny that when she stood in front of him they were more or less at eye level.
"What?" Vash whimpered. Certainly he'd heard her wrong. She should have been mad about this. Why hadn't she yelled at him yet? His mind, rotted by his fantasies, must have been inventing things and twisting her words. Or, maybe he'd passed out earlier and this was all a dream.
"I know you don't think you deserve it, and I know you won't ask for it, but I want to do this for you" she continued, running one hand from his shoulder up to gently hold his neck. "If you really don't want this, tell me to stop."
Or - Meryl hears Vash struggling to get off through the hotel wall, and offers to help him out

“Mr. Vash, I can't find Meryl anywhere!” A voice called from behind Vash, pulling him away from his thoughts as he stood there in the sand just outside of Inepril.
“Wasn’t she with you?” Vash questioned. “I could have sworn she was right with you before the two of you left the engineering room?”
Vash watched as Milly began to tear up, obvious worry resting on the poor girl’s face. She nodded in response. “She was, but I lost sight of her! I don’t even know how she was right next to me!”In which Stampede Meryl ends up in Trigun '98 due to plant shenanigans.

Summary
"Do you have any idea how long it took to clear out the sand from the back seat when you fell down that dune last week? An hour, Vash. I love you, but you're walking."
Something about Vash's smile suddenly looked off. "Oh. Uh."
He didn't say anything else for a very long and confusing moment, until it slowly dawned on Meryl that perhaps she had just said something strange. Something she never said.

After a disastrous accidental confession (of sorts), Meryl tries to move on. Vash gets in the way.
