Summary
In which Amara doesn't bring back Mary, she brings back John Winchester.
Dean is uncertain what Amara's meaning is when she brings John back, and struggles with coming to terms with the new family dynamic. Sam tries harder to keep the peace than he used to, and Cas does not get along with John at all- though he tries. Testosterone is at an all-time high as these four men struggle to coexist in the hunting world with very different ideologies.
We explore just how much the brothers have changed in the ten years without their father's guidance, the trauma they still haven't resolved, and the feelings that Dean and Cas hold for one another despite the very real and new barrier that is John.

Summary
In the spring of 1944, the 104th Medical Battalion of the United States Army is disbanded, and its men reassigned to various infantry companies in preparation for their invasion of occupied France. For First Lieutenant Novak, this is less than helpful, as he has so far met his platoon’s designated medic a grand total of twice, and has both times found Sergeant Winchester to be the optimum combination of reckless, arrogant, and downright insufferable so as to make cohesive platoon function near impossible. When the time comes to move out, however, Castiel has to reconcile himself to the fact that men are going to go down and trust that Dean Winchester may well be the only person who can put them back together again. Summary
Eugene thought he might would like jumping if it was under different circumstances. Almost enjoyed the way his breath got caught in his throat as soon as he was out of the plane. The pleasant weather on his face. How the adrenaline pumped through his entire body. The way he felt almost weightless. Just how much of the world he could see all at one time.
However none of that mattered over the way his heart pounded with dread and fear. Nothing could possibly drown out how sick he felt at all the things that could go wrong that kept running through his mind in endless wave after wave. Anyone could get tangled in their shoot on the way down. Enemy planes could roar overhead and open fire on them, while they were in the air. Someone could break their jaw on equipment not properly tied down on themselves. Far too easy to break a leg or an ankle upon landing.
OR: Eugene gets injured in the jump into Holland and tries to keep his wound to himself. New replacement Babe is having none of that.

Summary
Clenching and unclenching his hands into fists in his pockets, he tried not to think about how he could feel Hoobler’s blood underneath his fingernails. He’d done his best to clean his hands of every little bit of Hoobler from the crevices in his hands. But he never could seem to get it all off. Felt like the aftermath clung to his skin like leeches on a summer day. Always felt like their blood was permanently staining his hands. Senseless violence and gore that would embed itself into his palms. Hoobler’s death in particular seemed so senseless. So avoidable. The weight of being utterly useless in stopping the bleeding sat its heavy burden on his shoulders. Adding itself to the weight of everyone he couldn’t manage to save.
OR: When Eugene fails to take care of himself, he falls badly ill. Babe is left to pick up the pieces

Summary
How silent it was in the house had a chill going up Babe’s spine. Couldn’t help but remember how quiet Gene had been curled up on the floor in Haguenua. Fever burning him out of his mind. Unresponsive. As close to death as Babe ever cared to see him. Couldn’t stop his mind from flashing images of how ashy Eugene’s face had been. Couldn’t stop the choking anxiety of the possibility of finding him like that again.
Sequel to my other fic A Medic's Reprieve, but you don't need to have read that to read this one <3
