There is a wonderful and heartbreaking time travel fic called World Enough and Time. You should go read it immediately, and definitely don't read this first, because this is just a copy of sections of that fic, rearranged in the order that Anthony Crowley experiences them.
I am in awe of the Author who somehow kept track of an unusually twisty plot, and gave it emotional depth and resonance.

As he and Crowley develop their friendship, it's impossible for him to escape his growing feelings.
When Crowley finds himself persuaded by his half-sister to meet Aziraphale, he doesn’t expect to form a close friendship. As his emotions become involved, he wonders whether Aziraphale would be interested in more.
