Summary
He could still feel it now, the warm-wet slide of Ilya's tongue as he licked a stripe from the sensitive skin on Shane's palm to the tip of his middle finger, shocking a laugh out of him. The head-rush of feeling how quickly his cock hardened against the warmth of Ilya's bare ass, Ilya's full weight bearing down on Shane's hips. The heat of the blush traveling from his cheeks all the way down to his chest in response to the smoulder in Ilya's eyes.
Мой любимый, this is excuse to put sunscreen on my naked body, yes?
Shane gnawed at the memories like a dog with a bone, allowed himself to get lost in them until he felt physically sick, at which point he realized that he needed to switch lanes to avoid hitting the fawn, still unmoving, still unblinking.

After the Raiders v. Metros accident, Shane comes back different.

PLANE CARRYING OTTAWA CENTAUR’S HOCKEY TEAM, COACH, PERSONNEL, REPORTEDLY LOST CONTACT, PRESUMED MISSING -
Shane’s eyes scan over the words, once, twice. It’s not true. It’s some mistake. He knows it.
“Lost contact?” Hayden asks, his tone a mix of concerned and confused. “What’s that mean? Like they lost their ability to communicate? Won’t that make landing hard?”
J.J. frowns. “I do not think they will be landing,” he says solemnly.
--
The Ottawa Centaurs plane crashes in the Canadian wilderness. Shane tries to get answers while Ilya tries to stay alive.

Summary
His outstretched glove hangs there, frozen, as the noise of the arena mutates into a ringing buzz. Then he’s moving, pushed away by Marlow, and then Boston’s goalie. There’s a flurry of movement, a trainer with a towel, more blood dripping onto the ice, and he just. Stands there. Staring.
Ilya is helped off the ice. Shane doesn’t even tap his stick.
Remember when Sidney Crosby caught a puck with his jaw? That doesn't happen to Shane. That happens to Ilya.

Summary
Shane Hollander hasn’t texted Ilya back in 26 hours and Ilya is completely neutral about it. 26 hours is, objectively, when considered in the larger patterns of Ilya and Shane Hollander’s texting relationship, not an extraordinary amount of time. And were Ilya to feel anything about it, which he doesn’t, it would have much more to do with the fact that every hour of every day for the past three days he’s felt like a fucking live wire (for absolutely NO fucking reason) than it would have anything to do with Shane Hollander as a person, specifically.
OR
5 times Ilya is extremely bipolar + 1 time Shane is there to notice.

Summary
Shane lies there, too still and too silent, as the other players on the rink quickly realize something is wrong. Across the ice Ilya can hear Marlow go "fuck, shit, Hollander I didn't—" before he cuts himself off as medics flood onto the ice.
Shane's helmet is torn off. Ilya finds himself watching it skid across the ice, spinning until it hits the boards and it too, comes to a frozen halt.
Medics are yelling. So is Pike, so is Marlow, so are the referees, the coaches, the crowd.
Ilya is silent.
The game clock stops at 19:35 as all play is halted. Stupidly, Ilya wishes it is 19:19. He would do anything to have sixteen more seconds of a standing Shane. Of a smiling Shane. Of an undeniably alive and okay Shane.
Ilya doesn't get what he wants. This is the twelfth time he's watched Shane get knocked down and not get back up. It will probably not be the last.
Ilya is forced to relive the worst day of his life, the 2017 Montreal v. Boston game, where he can do nothing but watch Shane hit the ice over and over again. No matter what he does, it doesn't change the outcome. At least that's what he thinks.
