Summary
Phainon maneuvers himself higher up the bed, laying his head onto the pillow.
His throat feels tight and dry, like he's about to cough up sand: one deep breath, two deep breaths.
Three, four, five, six.
Phainon's eyes close as he feels himself calming down.
Sleep takes him instantly.
Just after the death of Aglaea, Phainon throws himself into her unfinished work out of guilt and grief of the recent departures of his loved ones, hoping to live up to the expectations she viewed him with and to cope, albeit unhealthily.
It comes to a point where he's unable to be awake any longer and is promptly ordered to rest.
Nightmares of Aedes Elysiae have always plagued him, making him fearful to sleep—yet when he shuts his eyes this time, he dreams of his beloved professor who seems to be a bit different than how he truly remembers.

“Such a charmer you are—whom did you learn that from?” Anaxa replies, carefully considering his words, the hint of incredulity coloring his tone. Phainon's eyes darken slightly, a flicker of frustration shimmering beneath the surface. He takes Anaxa’s hand, the one adorned with the glimmering red stone, and kisses it with the lightest of touches, barely a whisper against his skin.
“I’m simply speaking the truth; you’ve taught me to seek the genuine, even when the world around us might oppose it,” Phainon articulates, a smile gracing his lips, yet the shadow of dissatisfaction lingers in his gaze. “You, who embody the only truth in this chaotic world—it’s what you’ve always proclaimed—and I will forever seek you.”
Anaxagoras and Phainon find comfort in each other through the midst of it all, if only for a little.

“You said we were going to dance,” he murmured, glancing down at Hugo, whose presence now filled every inch of his vision. “Why are we only swaying?”
Hugo’s laugh was soft, somewhat hollow, as he avoided Lycaon’s gaze, lost in his own thoughts. “This attic isn’t the biggest, you should know that… Either way, I assume you’re enjoying this regardless,” he replied, a wry smile touching his lips.
And he was right, much to Lycaon's dismay.
Perhaps fate will never be kind to Lycaon—but it's better this way, he knows that.

“Of fucking course I did,” Seele scoffs. “I know how to handle a car, princess.”
“Why do you keep calling me that?” Bronya wonders aloud, ignoring the fact that the name stirs a curious excitement in her chest that she doesn’t get when the other strangers she meets call her that. She’d heard it enough in her lifetime that she could be considered actual royalty at this point but nobody else had quite made it land the same way Seele did.
This time when Seele sends her a smirk, it’s definitely intentional. “I know how to handle my girls, too,” she says, and then her gaze drops deliberately to Bronya’s lips.
Bronya, Formula One world champion, meets Seele, an underground street racer.

“I’ve been having dreams,” he mumbles. “Vivid ones. I always wake up in a panic, thinking I’m trapped in those endless cycles all over again. They won’t stop no matter what I do.”
Phainon has nightmares after the end of the Eternal Recurrences and the defeat of Irontomb. Tired of watching from afar, Anaxa finds a way to comfort him.
