Summary
“He’s got a stupid crush on me. That’s not my fault.”
Before, when they were just ignoring each other, Calum was fine. He can take discomfort in peace. But with how insulted and offended Ashton sounded at the mere thought of Calum in a sexual capacity, Calum feels the anger flood his body. Fuck Ashton Irwin. He’s still the same piece of shit he was when he was sixteen, and that’s never going to change.
“I’m starting to understand why you hate yourself so much,” Calum snaps, standing up and glaring at Ashton. He doesn’t know why, but there’s a fire in him urging him further, and he spits, “you pretentious fuck.”

Summary
“Have fun, and thanks for visiting, Ashton.”
For a moment, Ashton’s confused, but the cashier looks pointedly at his card, and he realizes his name is printed there. “Thanks for your help…” he trails off, and the cashier points subtly to his name tag. “Calum.”
“Any time.” The grin he gets back is agonizingly beautiful.
Hesitantly, Ashton heads out the door to start picking apples with his friends. It’s the reason they all came out today, but now he feels like there was a different purpose for his visit. His mind isn’t completely there, instead it’s stuck inside with the cashier… with Calum .
-
Ashton doesn’t have a crush on the cashier from the apple orchard, he absolutely does need 3 dozen apples, and it’s none of Michael’s damn business.

Summary
It fills Ashton with a thick sadness, thinking about how little he keeps in touch with everybody. It's not intentional, it never is, but talking to anybody, bringing back memories and making the past seem like more than just a concept, it's like cement bullets ripping through his heart.
"Sometimes talking to you reminds me too much of Calum," he finally admits.
"You know…" Mali places the kettle on the stove and turns around. "He never told me what happened, but whatever it was broke you both."
Ashton doesn't confess anything, but he's been living in pain for the past decade almost, and as much as he wishes Calum's been thinking about him too, he hopes for him to be at peace.
-
It’s been years since Ashton’s last seen his best friend's dorky little brother, Calum, but when their families decide to get together for their first shared Christmas since they were all kids, it’s more than just the holiday spirit that pulls Ashton in.
