Summary
There were bags under the Iudex’s eyes. They also held a glassy sheen, but there were no delays in his responses – he was still alert and comfortable. His hair was a little unkempt, his outfit a little rumpled, but that could have been easily chalked up to a busy schedule.
There was also a – Was that blood?
Now that he’d noticed it, the faint mahogany crusting under Neuvillette’s nose was like a flashlight’s beam shining in the darkness.
A nosebleed?

Summary
At a nearby table outside, a Melusine named Pip had climbed onto the back of a bench to get a better view.
“Do you think they’ll kiss?” she whispered to Clorinde.
“They don’t even know they’re on a date,” Clorinde hissed back. “They think this is a committee meeting.”
Pip frowned. “Are they always like this?”
Navia leaned over the table, an entire organizational binder of “Intervention Protocols for Romantically Repressed Men” open in her lap. “This is advanced-stage oblivious. I’ve seen rocks with more self-awareness.”
Charlotte looked up from her surveillance sketchpad—yes, she was sketching this. For posterity. “I’ve got a shot of Wriothesley staring at Neuvillette’s hands like they hold the answers to the universe.”
“They do,” said Clorinde grimly.
In which two deeply repressed men share tea, an umbrella, and several near-fatal amounts of yearning while all of Fontaine loses its collective mind.

Summary
For Freminet, taking the brunt of what he thought was an acid attack aimed towards Spina di Rosula's boss was nothing more than a split second decision. He wouldn't call himself a hero by any stretch of the imagination, and he wouldn't say he led his life with noble and virtuous intentions either...
...but when the urge to help someone comes to him, he ponders little over it. That's just what a good person would do, and Freminet desperately wants to be a good.
(Still, maybe he should have paid more attention to just what was being splashed.)
OR
Freminet dissolves into water. That really should have been the end of it, but it seems like the ocean wasn't keen on letting him go yet.

Summary
“You spoke of my voice,” Neuvillette starts, hands splayed across Wriothesley’s chest, tracing idle patterns over silver scars. “Paragraphs dedicated to its timbre and manner.”
“Authority suits you.” It’s a fickle explanation on Wriothesley’s part. And he is a weak, weak man for Neuvillette. “Knowing I can let go, and allow you to take over.”
- Deprived of his senses, Wriothesley is allowed to take his pleasure from nothing else but Neuvillette's voice and his instruction.
