My heart thrums, thrashes in my chest like bees trapped in a wooden jar. It’s suffocating, not being able to breathe when those eyes meet mine in my own reflection.
Suffocating in both lust and almost mortification, like this wasn’t normal. It wasn’t normal to want to feel my own skin beyond a mirror, to want to memorize my scars beneath my fingertips. It wasn’t normal to see my own lips, to want to brush my thumb against it— to want to kiss them.
Drawing my eyes away from my own reflection, I finally gasped a breath and clasped the fabric of my top.
