“The worst thing I have ever done, I did to Rozanov and Miss Montreal.”

Scott nodded and looked at their joined fingers, not Kip, as he said, “Miss Montreal is Shane Hollander. Years ago, after I met you but before we were dating, I chirped at Hollander and he got so angry he dropped his gloves and punched me.”

“I remember, you said something he thought was homophobic.”

Scott nodded but then shook his head, “I said he sounded like Rozanov. What I meant was, ‘I know you’re together and I can out you whenever I want.’ He punched me to shut me up.”

    Summary

“We do not say anything about the Hollander situation,” LeClaire tells them even though it sounds like he’s already resigned to what he knows is going to happen.

After all, Roz gets extremely mad whenever it’s brought up. Not that Cliff can blame him, he’s pretty sure that Roz liked Hollander before this (wouldn’t chirp him half as much if he didn’t). Finding out that he’s such a bastard must sting.

Not to mention that Roz does not mess around with people that disrespect girls. Or women. Or kids. Or dogs. Or the elderly (excluding Scott Hunter). Or really anyone, if it’s for petty stupid reasons.

“Of course,” Cliff agrees for both of them since Roz is still too busy texting someone.

It’s apparently not good enough for LeClaire because he asks, “Roz?”

“Just one second,” he answers without raising his eyes from his phone or stopping his typing. “Need to get my Jane to agree with something. She’s very stubborn.”

Or. My take on the 'their text leak and now everybody thinks that Shane is an abusive bastard' premise. Featuring Ilya giving a presser, Marly realizing in real time who 'Jane' is and the internet reacting to the craziness.

“Roz, if you had Hollander's permission, why did he call you fourteen times in the last five minutes?” he asks carefully.

“Well, it was not permission, permission,” Roz admits, sheepishly. “He says ‘I’ll come out’, I say ‘then they will tell you you are mean to your boyfriend’. He says ‘it would be nice to tell them that being mean to my boyfriend is basically in my contract and that you enjoy it’, I say ‘yeah, we should do that’. He says ‘I wish, but we can’t, Russia will be mad’, I say ‘Russia is my problem, not yours and I chose a long time ago’.”

As if on queue, Roz’s phone starts vibrating menacingly in Cliff’s hand.

“Shit, man,” he says, handing it back. “I think your boy’s pissed.”

Roz seems delighted by the prospect and, like a madman, he answers the call on speakerphone.

“This is better than boring social media statement you would write,” Ilya continues, warming to his theme. “You would write something like-” He puts on a ridiculous deep voice that sounds nothing like Shane. “‘Hello, I am Shane Hollander, and I am very boring, and I have announcement that is very boring-’”

“I do not sound like that!”

“-and instead, now everyone know that I am very much in love with you, and you are very much in love with me, and we have very good sex-”

    Summary

Shane crosses the room and grabs a chair from the corner, dragging it into the center of the room.

Right next to the foot of the bed.

He pats the back of the chair, making sure to keep his expression neutral. “Sit,” he instructs, sounding more confident than he feels.

Ilya raises an eyebrow but gets to his feet. “You do not want me on the bed?” He asks, sounding more than a little confused.

“No,” Shane replies simply, patting the chair again.

Or: When Ilya shows up unexpectedly at his door, Shane finally gets sweet revenge for Las Vegas.

Or or: They didn’t even kiss, and Shane takes that personally.

“I’m good,” he says casually, pausing to glance at Ilya over his shoulder. “Can I get back to it, or did you need something?”

Shane raises an eyebrow and waits. Ilya runs a frustrated hand through his curls. “Fuck,” he whispers, his voice more desperate than Shane’s ever heard it. Full of desire and heat and something too raw to examine closer. “I need you, Hollander, okay? Is that what you want to fucking hear?”

“Yes,” Shane whispers. "That's what I wanted to fucking hear."

It was at that moment, with dawning horror, that all his concerns coalesced, The theoretical stranger online, who would take advantage of Shane’s sweet, pliable kindness, his perfect submission, and ruin it with cruelty, had almost been him.

No. No no no. He would make a study of kissing Shane. A hobby. A lifestyle.

The absurdity of Shane feeling unwanted almost made him laugh. Want was the singular feeling he had about Shane that emerged with perfect clarity, he wanted him, kissed him, petted him so much he worried that their first time had been more making love than fucking, panicking that he would be called out and abandoned for it. Imagine his delight when the opposite turned out to be the case.

No, Shane had said. Don’t hold back. That thing you hate about yourself? That you drag into a back alley and strangle but just won’t die? I need it, actually. Give it to me.

    Gladly.
