The start of it all was really that Denki deigned to have a nice, relaxed day with his partner. Naturally he'd jinxed it, and all that followed was to expected. Naturally.
The song of the world wavered in something reminiscent of a snicker, and it took all of Denki's not inconsiderable willpower not to flip off the ground like an idiot.

There were three words that caused Denki's heart to race. And he's confident his fiance, Hitoshi, felt the same way.
The three words weren't, I love you.
The three words were, I need you.
It didn't make his heart race in an exciting and anticipatory way. No, it was a dreadful one.
It made him feel like he was drenched in a bucket of cold water that made him freeze up and stall. He'd stall with his heart pounding so loud that he could hear the vital organ in his ears.
Denki knows the three words are only sent when his partner really needed him. And he always made sure to drop everything and go to him.

Summary
In the rebuilt world after the war, Eri Sosaki, no longer the quiet, haunted child of her past has grown into a cheerful girl with a cool-punk hair streak and a deep love for music.
Every afternoon after classes she heads straight to the hero agency of her “Kyo-nee,” A.K.A. Pro Hero Earphone Jack for daily music lessons that have become the highlight of her life. Kyoka plays it cool, but the way she always clears her schedule the moment Eri calls her “Kyo-nee” says more than words ever could.
. . . But then Denki Kaminari walks in.
