When actor Anthony Crowley is invited to take part in a special celebrity edition of a certain British baking competition, he agrees immediately. It’s for a good cause, after all. It has nothing to do with his long-standing crush on one of the show’s judges, professional baker Aziraphale East.
Okay, fine. It has a little bit to do with Aziraphale. Every time they’ve crossed paths, Crowley has walked away more smitten than the last, but he can’t seem to seal the deal. The human kingdoms of Heaven and Hell have been at war for two thousand years, through countless generations. Prince Aziraphale, though he should have been yet another proud alpha in a long line, was instead a gentle soul, misunderstood and largely ostracized by his family. And the gods knew Hell’s omega Prince Crowley was an embarrassment; the black sheep of his family.
They would do their duty, but with hundreds of years of animosity between their two kingdoms, peace is tenuous at best.

Writer Crowley (aka DemonsEden) signed up for the Third Annual Jane Austen Winter Bang event, and was partnered with GuideAndGuardian, an artist whose work he's admired for years. Over the course of the event they became close, and when the mods decided to host an in-person retreat at a country house over the final weekend, culminating with a Regency ball on Christmas Eve, he just couldn't resist the urge to join, in spite of his misgivings about both the event and what might happen when he finally met his partner. For the first day everyone is anonymous, mingling and getting to know one another without knowing who their partner might be— and Crowley manages to get off on the wrong foot immediately with an artist called Aziraphale, an anachronism in waistcoat and bow tie too priggish and entirely too attractive for his own good.
No one could possibly predict what happens next.

Reluctantly, he goes. And then he hears a voice that makes him want to be alive again.Which is terrifying. Wanting something means risking everything. And Crowley has already lost too much.
