She’d wondered ever since her parents had told her about vampires if they were right about what they claimed to know. Her dad had let her read some of her ancestor Jonathan Gilbert’s journals about the original vampire attacks of 1864, and many of what he claimed to have been vampire attacks didn’t match up with the confirmed vampire attack in 1994 that she’d researched after being told of its occurrence. Elena felt that, perhaps, Jonathan’s rush to judgement had made the vampire problem worse than it actually was, and her experience with Damon that night moved the needle firmly towards her suspicions being correct.”
