Chuuya leaned against the rim, sinking deeper into the water as he adjusted to the temperature, becoming no more than a jut of red, and Dazai picked up his hand, scrutinizing ragged cuts and mapping shapes on each of Chuuya’s fingers with his thumbs.
Hands that were breathing violence, possessing terrific strength capable of reducing anything and everything to nothing, now resting in his hold so gently he wondered if he could crush them if he squeezed tight enough.
They were full of gentleness unfamiliar to him; all he ever received was their ferocity. Dazai peeked through his eyelashes to find Chuuya already looking at him with half-lidded eyes; he looked exhausted. Dazai let go of his hands, they were too heavy to hold.
