Summary
If someone had stopped him, Daigo thinks, if I was there, if I was awake. He knows, even now several heavy glasses of bourbon into the night, that dwelling on these what-ifs will only prolong the bleeding. All the men Daigo respects are guided by their better angels. Strange to talk about angels, perhaps, in this world, but Daigo can't think of a better word for what Kiryu was to him, what Daigo tried and failed to be to Mine. If someone had stopped him --

Summary
"I… shall I leave?"
"No," Daigo said simply, and gathered what looked to be… medical supplies? And walked towards Mine. "I am so, so angry with you, Mine. Why would you do that?"
"I knew I could win, and protect you and the rest of the entourage," Mine said.
Daigo clenched his jaw as he sat next to Mine. "Take your shirt off."
"Sir?" Mine's heart skipped a beat, his eyes widening.
"You did this," he gestured at Mine's injured body. "For me. So doesn't that mean I get to take care of your wounds how I see fit?"
"S-sir!"
"No objections," Daigo said sternly.
And Mine was cowed in the way only Daigo could make him.Bookmarked by eli_cat

Summary
The night sky spread out like a blanket over him, bordered by metal towers with blinking red lights. A roof? The glow of a full moon made him close his eyes again. Sight wasn’t important right now; he needed to get up and that started with pushing himself up. The mask over his face—medical in nature, he could feel that much. Was he in hospital clothes? Daigo managed a strained rise of his right shoulder to get his hand near his face and shove the mask off. True ozone filled his lungs. He opened his eyes again, but could only manage the overstimulation of sight by opening one and half-squinting the other.
The voice of the wolf spoke again—a word he could identify, though in English.
“Die.”
A rewrite of Yakuza 3's hospital rooftop scene told through Daigo's perspective.

Summary
He dug into his slacks, fiddling for a cigarette from a half-empty carton. He brought it to his lips, working to balance it without tearing it apart with his teeth. Taking one of the matches with his bleeding, throbbing hand, Mine settled it against the red phosphorus strike line. Rivulets of blood dripped down his shaking fingers, staining the wood of the match. Mine took a deep breath, head dense with cotton and body alight with hot embers, and flicked his wrist.

Summary
He pinched the crystalline glasses between his fingers and stood back up to witness Mine’s hand wrapped around the neck of the gin bottle. Stubborn eyes scowled at the clear liquid before he brought the bottle to his lips and threw his head back. Mine took one, two, three, four full swallows of it before pulling the alcohol away with a grimace and an even darker frown.
He put the bottle back where it sat but didn’t let go of it. His back straightened, and his hand remained pulsing, dripping blood between his thighs.
Daigo returned the glasses and grabbed the small black waste basket below the shelf.
Mine loses a fight against a glass decanter.
