Summary
Just minutes after leaving the hospital, Whitaker remembers one last question about house-sitting and calls Robby from the car. A quick phone call from the car seems harmless enough... until his battered-up phone fails to hang up.
By the time Whitaker notices, Robby has already heard the one thing Whitaker never wanted him to: that three months apart won't be nearly enough to get over the feelings he has for him.
Three months later, Robby comes home to a spotless apartment, an anxious house-sitter, and a conversation that's been waiting to happen. Whitaker has no idea whether Robby knows or not. Robby has no idea how to tell him that he does. Inevitably, the truth they've both been carefully avoiding finally comes to light.

Summary
Robby could say to himself, or even to other people, that he was biting himself up by jealousy. Although, for sure, he knew that it was better to leave this sentiment inside his own head – and his poor cheek, already tired of so many bites.
It was quite obvious that he couldn't express what he was feeling (and seeing and hearing), since the object of his jealousy was none other than Dennis Whitaker, his medical resident, who was born in the late 1990s and wasn't even 30 yet.

Summary
Dennis washed up and headed toward the room, pulling up the chart one more time on his tablet as he walked. Stable. No new changes since he last checked. Just waiting. Still not looking hopeful. He knocked lightly before entering. He stepped inside and pulled the curtain partially closed behind him, giving the family privacy. The overhead lights were dimmer now. The steady hum of the ventilator filled the quiet.
He turned and froze, a stuttered breath leaving his mouth as he choked on his greeting.
A gun.Or, Post-Sabbatical, Dennis is held hostage by a patient’s grieving family member.

Summary
Dennis swayed on his feet as the patient was rushed out so that another bed could be rolled in. Everything became disjointed, his body no longer responding to commands that should have been automatic. Panic surged, but even that felt distant, muffled, like he was underwater watching himself from somewhere just outside his body.
“Trin. Go get Robby.” Was all that Dennis could mutter before he was unable to get his lungs and mouth to cooperate again. Then his knees gave out. Before he hit the floor he felt his chest spasming one violent, final contraction that didn’t resolve. Then it just… stopped.
Or, Dennis’s heart stops. And of course, all he wants is to see Robby one last time.

Summary
Robby hadn’t moved. His jaw had locked so tightly it hurt. Disgust curled low in his stomach. Not at Whitaker, never at Whitaker. How could he let this happen? Under his watch, in his ED of all places. It felt irrational. Possessive. Territorial in a way Robby hated recognizing. If he hadn’t been so thoroughly revolted by the thought of Whitaker ending up with Park, he might have found the blush steadily spreading across the kid's face unbearably endearing.
Instead it only made something inside him twist. Whitaker deserved someone careful. Someone patient. Someone better than a shark. Someone even better than Robby.
Or, Park The Shark asks Dennis out and Robby learns that Dennis has never gone "all the way" with a guy before. He has a lot of mixed emotions about that.
