Denki beams at him with a blinding smile, “Happy late birthday lover!” His boyfriend holds out the bundle of chocolate fur, green eyes blinking at him.
‘Mew!’ The kitten cries while wiggling to try and get out of Denki’s hands.

A soft noise startled Shiki awake. He opened his eyes and then squeezed them shut immediately. Ugh, it was so bright in here. Slowly, he opened them once more. After a second for his eyes to adjust he realized something important. His surroundings didn’t look familiar. This wasn’t his room! He bolted upright with a gasp. He immediately noticed the chill on his bits and looked down at himself. Where the hell had his underwear gone!
A soft rustle made him stiffen. His eyes darted over to his left, where his roommate was in the middle of pulling a shirt on over his head. Panic shot through Shiki like a bolt of lightning and he shouted, “Oh my god, did we –!”
Jin paused with his shirt still held up to expose his scarred midriff. He looked over his shoulder, blinked, then asked, “Seriously? You don’t remember?”
“Remember what!” Shiki yelped. He grabbed the blanket next to himself and pulled it up to his neck to hide his shame. Probably should’ve thought of that before getting the guy’s attention.
“That’s cold, even for you.” Jin tsked.

Snapping Megumi out of his haze was the sharp cry of an ambulance driving by. Then a police car, harmonizing a solemn song to rescue whatever needed rescuing. Watching from the window of the breakroom, the city night seemed still. Too still. The kind of stillness that would make you lock your windows and sleep with the lights on. He quietly grabbed the remote and flicked on the television.
