“You fold so easily,” he says instead, slotting a knee between Nick’s and using the brace of his thighs to square him.
Nick lets himself be moved, sucks on his lip where Nai’s teeth have left indents, and hooks his fingers through Nai’s beltloops. “Maybe I just know how to get what I want. Ever think about that?”

“Because I never learn my fucking lesson,” Vash says with a squeeze to his fingers that makes his bones ache. He settles back, though, the tension draining from his shoulders. “It was fun, at first. Until I got attached.”
Nai looks back to the ring, where Wolfwood lands a thigh kick that nearly brings his opponent to his knee. He rubs his thumb over Vash’s callused knuckle. “Is it serious?”
He doesn’t meet Vash’s eye when Vash glances over at him. Vash sighs, and says, softly, resigned: “Terminal.”
