Summary
In the years since the Goblin Rebellion was put to rest, Evelyn Revere has travelled the Earth in search of more deposits of Ancient Magic at the behest of the Ministry. Her travels have kept her far away from those she loves, building an invisible wall between her and her lover, Garreth. The aftermath of one Ancient Magic haunt results in an unspeakable, invisible entity threatening to upheave the Wizarding World as they know it.
The Ministry has instructed that Evelyn must investigate this enemy, with the assistance of an Unspeakable- namely, Sebastian Sallow, who has all but become a stranger to her. Harbouring resentments and unresolved feelings, the two set off in search of a way to eradicate the enemy plaguing their borders.

Her eyes dart back to his, brows raised in surprise and her mouth twitches into a small smile. She didn't think she was this obvious when she was stewing in thought, she felt a little shocked to be seen. Maybe he's just more observant than the people she surrounds herself with.
“Guess I’m still stuck in the painting. “ She offers back, her fingers tapping idly at the metal bar underneath them. “I think this city has this way of bringing out the worst in people, whether we try to keep it back or not. You stay here long enough, you start to forget yourself. Forget what you’re about. Why you’re fighting.”
Dex finds a new obsession, though he’s not quite expecting what he finds beneath the surface.
