The scent on the sticky note was a soft, cloying sweetness that smelled of vanilla and submission, a stark contrast to the jagged, electric tension that always existed between Duncan and Aerion. To Aerion, it smelled like an intruder. It smelled like someone trying to occupy a space that, regardless of legal decrees and signed papers, still belonged to him.
"What's this?" Aerion asked, his voice deceptively calm, though his fingers were trembling slightly as he held the slip of paper.

Aerion scratches at his eyebrow with a finger, glancing Dunk’s nakedness up and down half-attentively. “Don’t look so aghast, Ser Duncan.”
The first time he’s called him by his name. Something is different about him. A strange feeling rises in the hedge knight’s chest. “Wh—what are you doing here?”
“Spied you from the window,” he says, much too casually. “Thought I’d give you an audience. No need for all that.” Aerion waves a hand erratically in the direction of Dunk’s groin, smirking, breaking eye contact only for a moment. “I’d like to see it, in fact, it’s quite impressive.”
Decidedly done with princes, Dunk prepares to depart from Ashford Meadow—until he finds himself fascinated with the same prince he swore himself against.
