Summary
Mike was definitely sick. That much Chuck could see as he stared down at the teen as the other tried to get out of his car.
He knew that he was probably in over his head, sticking his neck out for a guy he barely even knew. Hell, a guy he'd had up until recently, disliked with a burning passion.
But there was no way Chuck was going to let him freeze to death while sleeping in his snowbound car if he had anything to say about it.

Summary
“Why don’t you hang out with me anymore?” Lance asks, small. His chin lowers halfway to his chest, but he keeps his gaze stubbornly ahead. “We’re stuck doing this trip, and this is the first time since way before you left for the Blade that we’re actually spending time together. I’ve been sneaking out of camp to fuck around the entire time we’ve been travelling and this is the first time you’ve even noticed.”
“It’s not the first time I’ve noticed,” Keith says—how could he not have? “I just thought you wanted to be alone.”
“Yeah, but, like, with you.” Lance mumbles. “That was our whole thing. Just…” Lance reaches up to rub at the flesh of his neck, “can we be friends again? Like before?”
“Yes,” Keith says, quickly, unthinking. “And for what it’s worth, I never thought I was better than you.”
“You were,” Lance replies, softly. “But we’re better matched now.”

Summary
“I’m sorry this is so sudden,” Shiro started and Keith jolted slightly at his voice. Were they not waiting for Sir Lancelot to finish whatever he had gone back to do? He almost opened his mouth to ask, but snapped it closed when Shiro continued. “We should have told you sooner, but…” He shook his head “Things escalated faster than we thought we could control.”
“Lance has disappeared.” Allura said and Keith whipped his head around to look at her.
“What?” He demanded before he could stop himself.
Or
Lance has disappeared...Keith isn't quite convinced that he's gone. Luckily there are some interesting clues left behind to tell them all they need to know.

Summary
Keith had offered to move any important files he found in the Castle ship's data system to the Blade's computers for their use. It was nice to have a project to work on, and he enjoyed learning about the missions that his friends had completed while he was away with the Blade.
One night, when Keith is working late on transferring the files, he finds a mission report detailing an old incident. Keith is horrified to learn that Lance had died before being revived by Allura. Her words are detailed, and he can clearly imagine what had happened. He can even see Lance sitting lifeless in Red's pilot seat and smell the stench of burning flesh flooding the cockpit.
Keith reminds himself that Lance is fine. He saw the other boy only a few short months ago when the paladins got together for a reunion. The incident must have been terrible, but Lance is fine now and that was over a year ago now anyways.
Keith manages to convince himself of this for a while, but when nightmares plague his dreams, panic sets in.
He has to know for sure. Keith has to see Lance with his own eyes. The nightmares are too realistic, and he's starting to forget which memories are real, and which ones his mind has created to torment him.

Summary
“I don’t want you dead.” Keith says, softening some, his eyes resting momentarily on a fleck of dried blood on Lance’s temple. He doesn’t say it, but he’s fairly certain Lance makes out that what Keith really means is, I’d have given up that whole outpost just to keep you in one piece. He adds, “you saved a lot of lives.”
“Speak for yourself,” Lance replies, meeting Keith’s eyes at last, with that same, raw, weighted gaze, his eyes languid pools of blue.
And Keith finally discerns this new expression—it’s yearning. Uselessly, without conviction, Keith says, "I don't think I forgive you."
Yearning, Keith thinks, longing. Something.
Lance exhales, heavy and slow, and pulls Keith in a little closer.
...
After nearly a decade spent in the tumult of vacuous space, Keith and Lance find themselves trying to navigate the newly reciprocated, spindly feeling between them, with the added challenge of trying to disentangle the ways that circumstance and time have altered them--have altered Lance, into a jaded whisper of his old self.
