Shadow stands abruptly. Even though his meal is only half finished, he opens the sack of coins hanging from his belt and tosses a few onto the table. "You're coming with us."
"Are—" Sonic visibly brightens, only to immediately attempt to hide that he did. "I mean, are you sure? I meant it when I said I can't pay for passage."
"That's fine," Shadow says as he reties the string of his coin pouch. That done, he takes his flintlock pistol from its holster, thumbs back the hammer, and aims it squarely at Sonic's head. "I'm sure we can find somebody else to pay for you."

An alert flashes in the corner of Metal's vision: liquid is seeping into the seams between his metal plating.
He studies Sonic in thermal vision again, then flips over to his normal camera. Looks at where Sonic is sitting atop him. Zooms in.
...Oh. Not a fever, then—at least, not a normal one.
Sonic grinds himself downwards, smearing a mess of slick over Metal's thigh. "You know—" He laughs, the sound more than a little hysterical. "I was on my way to Tails so he could find an antidote, but—"
Belatedly, Metal's instincts kick back in. He bucks upwards, trying to get Sonic off him—but all it gets him is a moan and Sonic grinding down against him once more.
Sonic huffs and leans forward so they're eye to eye. "Since you're so fucking happy to get physical," he says, "I guess I'll just take care of this the old fashioned way."
