Soldier Boy's expression darkened. The patience he had been pretending to have evaporated. He grabbed her arm, his grip like a vice, and yanked her forward.
"You remember the tank, Frankie. You remember the smell of burning rubber and the way Crimson Countess looked when you pushed her into the mud in the middle of a press conference. You remember the drugs. The noise. The way we used to tear through hotel rooms until there was nothing left but splinters and sweat."
"I don't!" she screamed, struggling against him. "Let me go! Help! Somebody help me!"
Soldier Boy didn't answer with words. He slammed her against the wall, the impact knocking the wind out of her. He didn't let go. He leaned in, his breath hot against her ear.
"The lock is still there, isn't it? Mindstorm's little mental cage. You're tucked away in the dark, hiding behind a floral skirt and a fake smile."
"Please just stop!" she wailed, her voice cracking.
"I've only just started, bitch," Soldier Boy hissed. "Now we just have to find the girl buried under all this boring shit."
