The last person you expected to see walking into the trauma bay at 2 a.m. was Jack Abbot.
Not after the breakup or the months of silence. And definitely not after the way things ended : unfinished, bitter, and painfully unresolved.
You used to know each other too well : coffee breaks, secret touches behind supply room doors, the relationship nobody at the hospital could ever find out about. Back then, it felt thrilling. Now it just feels dangerous.
The problem is, the ER is short-staffed during one of the worst nights the hospital has seen in months, and you and Jack are forced to work side-by-side for the next twelve hours.
Tension becomes unbearable when every glance feels loaded. Every argument sounds too personal.
Because no matter how much you both pretend the relationship is over, the chemistry is still there.
Jack has regrets he never voiced.

Two months ago, a chance encounter in an off the beaten track dive bar turned into a lost weekend between two strangers bonding over their shared demons. That weekend bled into a month long affair of stolen moments and quiet escapes. They kept it simple: no last names, no strings, and absolutely no talking about their jobs.
Now, Wrenley's fresh start has just become a professional minefield, and the man who was her secret escape for a month, is suddenly her strict, entirely off-limits attending.
Keeping their hands off each other was hard enough when they were strangers; trying to do it while saving lives side byside might just be impossible.
