Rip me apart from sternum to pelvis, Bill thinks, Let me bury my teeth in your throat until I taste your jugular.

“Alrighty!” Bill says, with a mock-salute. “You got it, pal!”

amazing snippet up there; i cackled at the duality.

this was fun and hot and hilarious while also being horrifically adorable and earnest at times (they like each other! bill missed ford! bill wanted to look at ford properly! augh!)

also, billford yuri? hell yeah. ofc ford and bill are so into it since they’re not constrained by preconceived & limiting notions of gender — what with ford’s intellectual curiosity and openness to experience + bill not even originally being human in the first place. makes me wish gender changing spells could be real… oh to experience two types of gay sex in one night *wistful sigh*

there’s also some really good bits of bill reflecting on the nature of humanity, instinct & desire here!

    essentially: i hate them /aff

Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. (Matthew 5:27-28)

“You’re a weird species, you know?” Bill mutters, looking around for his clothes. “You have one fun thing to do, and you spend all your time feeling guilty about it.”

religious guilt-ridden fiddleford dreaming about getting it on with a literal demon… yikes, poor guy! really makes ya wonder what the latent content of that dream could be.

seriously, though—i adore the symbolism of the song when it comes to fiddleford and bill’s dynamic, along with fidd’s jealousy toward billford’s relationship, his desire to understand what ford sees in bill, and the guilt he feels for not only betraying his wife by having feelings for ford, but also ford’s friendship by being attracted to bill in some capacity. i always love me some pathetic bill who can’t help but fall victim to human instinct, as well.

i never considered fiddbill as a ship prior to reading this, but the contrast in both their personalities and beliefs has been highlighted so well here that i now totally see why fiddleford would at least harbour some attraction to bill. really great stuff.

“I’m a being of pure power,” Bill points out.

    “Were,” says Ford.

Bill flicks his wrist and sends the molecular structure of Ford’s pencil out of whack. It goes all limp and pathetic between his fingers.

“Are,” he insists. “Take me for a test drive, IQ.”

the prose, the dialogue, the flow of bill’s internal monologue… i adore all of this dearly. it reads so very tender.

    >> He tilts his head back and looks up at the stars. It’s that easy now.

everything preceding the above quote (along with the snippet itself) has taken root in my brain and made a home for itself there. i will remember this scene forever, probably. God.

    Summary

As L watches, the man extracts a twittering phone from his pocket and pitches it calmly into the river below.
He's not sure what makes him speak. L’s never been one to make idle chit-chat with strangers. Still, he finds himself opening his mouth to call, “In denial?”

The man half-turns at the sound of his voice. He has a sweet smile. “In the Sumida, actually,” he calls back cheerfully.

everybody gets a phone call on the day they’re going to die, just in case they'd like to go out and meet someone who'll change their life. (au inspired by the book of the same name)

L keeps walking a few more paces before he realises Light has stopped. He turns around. “Light?”
In the dimming sun, Light looks suddenly very young.
“I don't really want to keep walking,” he says.
    “Okay.”
“I don't know what we're walking to,” says Light. “I feel like I'm walking closer to my—to my own—”
    “We can stop.”
“That just means it'll happen here instead. I don't want to die here, either.”
“Where do you want to die?”
“I don't,” Light says. His face crumples. “I just don’t. I'm not ready to be done.”

brilliant. this fic took the premise of a novel that i was never able to understand the hype for or personally connect with and turned it into something incredibly reflective, moving, and impactful. i love thinking about mortality — the ominous ticking of a countdown you can't see, the feeling that you aren't even close to being finished yet, sensing death suffocatingly near & knowing it's inescapable no matter where you go or what you do with yourself, lurking and ready to envelop you whole — ugh, a hauntingly beautiful and bittersweet reflection. <3

    Summary

    Sometimes she really hates herself.

She invited Misa to dinner with the intention of maintaining a calm and composed demeanor throughout, sitting tall with her head held high and cementing her position above her. Certain nothing could cause her to lose her footing.

But as Misa smiles like a devil across the table, lips shining like a ruby in the low light, Kiyomi stumbles. Misa chips away at her. Strips the presentable image Kiyomi so meticulously crafted and reveals a side of her she'd kept under lock and key.

Not like herself at all. ...Or perhaps exactly like herself.
