Summary
Lydia Deetz, hostess of Ghost House is into her 2nd season and already wants to disappear from the spotlight. She dreams of a quiet life, away from fans, away from signings, and just save enough to retire early.
She wasn't prepared to be revisited by Betelgeuse to remind her they had been married all these years. He'd always kept tabs on her, seeing as she was his way out of the Netherworld and return to a human life for awhile - well, until death did they part, or rather her death.
He wasn't in a rush, waiting for the opportune time to revisit, but it was hard to catch her alone and without the Maitlands around. He'd recently discovered a particular bit of valuable information that concerned her future and knowing this, his time was limited. He manages to convince her to accept him in her life, in exchange for the promise of enough wealth from her show that would permit her to retire early as desired. Betelgeuse would be seen by others, human, but still dead and living among the living.
Betelgeuse reached out to Lydia, for selfish reasons, hoping to secure another prospect, before she... Well, things didn't go as planned and he'll learn what it is to make sacrifices.

At age thirty-five, Lydia has her life more together than it's ever been... but when a mysterious "haunting" threatens to tank the career in the arts she's worked so hard for, she finds herself calling on an old friend for help. Little does she know, Betelgeuse is starting to get fed up with only being summoned when Lydia needs something.
'Living' and working alongside one another to uncover the identity of the mysterious saboteur threatening to kill Lydia's job prospects, and arguably Lydia herself, dredges up unresolved issues for the duo causing them to reflect on their past and try to figure out what they mean to each other in the present.
(They're roommates, they're solving a mystery, they want to jump one another's bones but they keep accidentally picking fights with each other instead. Original characters created because I needed suspects and victims for my whodunit, but the main focus is on Lydia and Beej's friendship/relationship.)

Summary
Lydia is still deeply hurt by how she and BJ had to part ways. He exposed himself to Peaceful Pines after the mayor refused to pay him for breaking up an all-night rager that was loud enough to wake the dead. She hasn't heard from him since. He hasn't come for her, and she hasn't been able to reenter the Neither World for some reason either. Suddenly, twelve years later, she finds herself in the Neither World, but in spirit only, as her body lays unconscious in a hospital bed. She has a month to find a way to wake up before they pull the plug and her soon-to-be ex-fiance gets her life insurance policy. Begrudgingly, she has to summon BJ to help her but can they rekindle a friendship that's gone cold?

Summary
Narinder is used to the Lamb and their strange quirks. He is used to watching the Lamb do chores, gamble away their money in Knucklebones, fish, and other inane activities. Even being unable to read the Lamb's mind, The One Who Waits is confident that he knows the Lamb.
Until he realizes he doesn't.
The Lamb is suddenly very blank-faced, almost like a canvas. This is different than what he knows of them-- except when they are around their Followers. For some reason-- some strange, inexplicable reason-- the Lamb is only different around him.
Narinder must now balance dealing with the Lamb's bewildering behavior, becoming accustomed to mortal life, a stupid task from the Mystic Seller to fetch his siblings... and the whispers of strange happenings all around the cult-- all seemingly tied to a prophecy that rears its ugly head in his dreams that he cannot make heads nor tails of.
