    Summary

Everyone had their fair share of secrets, some more so than others.

Mydei knew this better than most. To his colleagues and to anyone else he came across daily, he was simply the solemn one. He never said anything more than what was asked of him and he never lingered long enough to befriend anyone else. No man was an island, but Mydei came close to being one.

But alone, in the solitary privacy of his own room every Thursday and Sunday night, he harbored one little secret that he would never deign to reveal to anyone else.

or, what do you do when these secrets come to light-and are found out by the person you least wanted to know?

    Summary

“You do not teach your men to trust each other enough for that, General Geshu,” Jiyan murmurs. The hand slides around to the back of his thigh, squeezing at the lean muscle there for less than half a second, but to Jiyan, it feels like an eternity. “You do not teach your men to watch each other’s backs, nor do you instill lessons of relying on your comrades to handle work that you could do yourself. How a man who works solely off the ‘every man for himself’ mentality was ever chosen to be general is a mystery to me.”

Geshulin turns his head so far that his breath fans over the side of Jiyan’s face, and the warmth emanating from his skin is far closer than it was before. “I do so love your compliments.”

Jiyan is so affronted by the remark that his nose wrinkles in disgust.

“Only a man such as yourself would take such loathing judgment to be a compliment of your character.”
