    “I do well for myself,” said Bucky, a pleased flush on his cheeks.
    “I’m sure you do.”
    “And what about you?” he prompted. “Handsome guy like yourself. You probably hafta beat the ladies off with a stick.”
    Sam’s smile didn’t fall, but it became a little smaller. He glanced at the shield propped up beside him; all red, white, and blue, stars and stripes. “I don’t really… I’ve got a lot going on,” he said.

    1943. Bucky Barnes has recently shipped out, when he suddenly finds himself transported to a future where his current best friend is gone, he is (somehow) still alive, and the handsome man who found him can't quite look at him without heartbreak in his eyes.
