Nine whole minutes remained on Jim's timer, and for nine whole minutes the world would stand silent. Jim had nine, glorious, slowly withering away minutes to chew his nails, grind his teeth, and argue ethics with himself. Oh minutes, shall he compare thee to a summer's day? Whoops, make that eight minutes, 30 seconds. Here is the crossroads at which Jim currently falters: he could A: return the evil, cursed ring to the evil, cursed serial killer currently set on murdering him and his loved ones, with this cursed ring being the only thing to control him or... he could B: wear the ring, thereby removing any chance of Angor becoming a good person, surrendering himself to the abuse of dark magic (untold side effects to be found), but guarantee without a doubt that neither him nor his loved ones would perish.
Can he get a phone call?

Yesterday was great.

He only keeps time by the dripping of the walls, the cackles of wandering goblins, and the sounds of metal dragging on the floor-a harbinger of what is to come. He fears those noises the most.
He is trapped, and Gunmar is not only intrigued, but determined to break him into his perfect little weapon, one way or another. It doesn't hurt that Gunmar has been deprived of a body to use for years, and human's are oh-so-susceptible to pleasure and pain.

Summary
Jim’s plan was simple, find the amulet and do better than last time. But that plan is immediately thrown out the window when Toby is called instead. Now Jim has to draw a new road map through the various apocalypses headed for Arcadia even as the timeline shifts farther and farther away from everything he knew before.
A little bit of rott fix it and a lot of exploration of what might come next.

For a moment, it feels like there’s an iron grip around his throat.

“Did I tell you about how one of those trolls totally had like six eyes?”
Jim smiles at him.
“You did.” He slides the casserole into the oven, and then leans his hip against the counter, something unreadable in his eyes. “We’ve got time, though. Tell me again.”
