Not that having no partner is a bad thing- you’ve just never expressed that you didn't want one before; So immediately because of that same talk decades ago, he assumed it to be a boy.

Art frowns, not following, and turns his head to look at him.
Patrick looks back, the picture of innocence, and slowly shifts his gaze from Art’s face to his hips and back again.
