It's peaceful underwater. This is what 2D knows: long stretches of nothing at all, punctuated periodically by small bursts of pain. 2D looks out the porthole, when he can bear to -- the whale is out there, and it is hungry. He can see it in the eyes of the great thing, the flex of its jaws, the way it moves so alien through deep dark waters, and he shivers. It's a dreadful thing, a beast so large he can hardly comprehend. So he doesn't.

!!THIS FIC IS ABANDONED/UNFINISHED. The last chapter is mostly outline notes as I didn’t want to leave it with nothing. Just a warning!!
Murdoc was surprised by a number of things in the moment he first held the baby.
Number one: It was warm. (Somehow this was unexpected)
Number two: It was soft. (Murdoc didn't do soft)
Number three: It breathed. (Well, obviously.) And yet Murdoc watched in a sort of awe as the little thing let out quiet, even breaths through its nose.And, although he’d never admit it, that’s what sold it for him. Anything this soft and warm that took breaths of air, anything living that was this bloody small, needed every force in the universe protecting it from the harsh outside world.

A fic centered entirely around the question: What if Noodle was Murdoc's daughter? And my desperate attempts to adequately answer that question (despite literally no one asking me to.)
