Summary
Mindy Park is rapidly realising that the first intelligent extraterrestrial to make contact with the human race thinks they’re fucking stupid. She’s pretty sure that Dr Grace isn’t accurately translating half the things Rocky is saying, but most of what he is telling her is that Rocky has a better way of doing what NASA wants them to do, and honestly, it seems like Rocky is mostly right. She probably doesn’t want to know what the other half of what Grace’s new alien friend is saying, if the things that are making it through what she’s calling the “middle school teacher filter” are “why would you do something the dumb way when you could do it the right way”.

Mindy has a headache, Grace has trauma, Mark is confused and Rocky is wondering how humans made it in to space when they're all so, so dumb.

The brain scans come back, and Tendo gives her an apologetic look. “We’ve compared the brain scans from after your initial drifts with Raleigh, with Hermann, and after Hermann and Newt’s drift.” He points to two very brightly lit up dots- one in her amygdala, the other in her thalamus. “I can’t say anything without scanning Hermann too, but considering other pilots’ scans from the history of the program, your headaches are likely being caused by a strained ghost drift.”
“You two should really take off to Boston," Dr. Nguyen says, but it sounds like less of a suggestion and more of a prescription. "You have your PPDC pension as well as a wealth of vacation days stored up from over the years. My official treatment plan is to either get Dr. Gottlieb and Dr. Geiszler back here, or to finally take a fucking vacation for once in your life."
(After the breach is closed, Hermann and Newt go to Boston to teach again. But soon, it becomes clear that the ghost drift between Mako and Hermann can't take the distance.
Once in Boston, Mako starts to figure out what life she wants now that the war is over, but there's just one problem- while her and Hermann's drift is healing, not is everything alright with Newt's.)
