Dean’s Neanderthal brain catches up with his mouth and he manages to gather enough saliva to swallow, the rough drag of his tongue on the roof of his mouth making it hard to talk. His voice comes out hoarse and low. “Like what you see?”
He wants to laugh at his own ridiculousness but he can’t. He can’t even joke about this right now. Part of him hopes Cas laughs it off and finally shakes himself out of his stupor, that he closes the door behind him and goes into the kitchen. Maybe he’ll make Dean a sandwich.
But Cas says, “Yes,” completely unexpectedly, and Dean’s heart pounds so hard against his sternum he feels like it might burst through his chest.
