Grace laid Simon down into bed and tucked him underneath the covers. He stood to leave, but Simon's fingers caught the inside of his wrist, right at his pulse point, and he whispered two words.

His voice was hoarse, and beyond that, broken, as though something fundamental within him had to shift without his permission, and he could not reassemble the pieces by himself.'

Summary
The blond’s hands are raised up above his head, slowly, like a trail of blood from an open wound, blue eyes set on him from the ground, footsteps cautiously making their way towards Simon’s bed ladder. Simon’s knees come to curl in towards his stomach, his arm going to wrap itself securely around his legs, only for the sensation to never reach them. A quick glance to his empty shoulder, and Simon looks towards the top of the bunk, blinking away the burning in his eyes.
Ryland is approaching him like he’s a rabid dog, and, for once, Simon wishes someone didn’t see him as one that bites.
Simon wishes that he didn’t feel like a ghost walking around in his own skin, anymore. He was so, so tired.
“I’m not an animal,” Simon huffs out, turning his face towards the other human, and Ryland vaguely notes the fact that, in the light, one of his eyes looks a deep, crimson red.
“I didn’t mean to-”
“I know. Nobody ever does.”
OR
Simon has a nightmare, and Ryland has a perfect idea on how to help.

Summary
While Simon had never thought about it, the fact that Ryland has had relationships made sense. Who wouldn't want to be loved by this man?
What didn't make sense was that someone had broken up with the man? Had had Ryland all to herself and decided that she didn't want him?!?

Summary
Eridians have recreated more of Earth than Grace could have imagined. Waves, trees, flowers — Grace is grateful for all of it. Simon feels the same, even if he doesn’t say as much. Grace can tell from how curious Simon has become.
Answering his questions about plant life was a breakthrough for their relationship. So, as long as Simon wants to know something, Grace is willing to teach him about it. It's just that giving a lesson on this particular flower isn't quite like what Grace is used to teaching about. After all, it's not like he'd have ever brought up marijuana in the classroom.
