“They’re trying to kill me.”
Scar had to spit his drink back into his cup to avoid choking on it.“Who is trying to kill you?” Scar choked out, trying to keep his voice from pitching higher as he spoke.
Grian bit down on his lip so hard Scar was worried it might start bleeding. In the background, the kettle clicked as it cooled. Grian began to work his jaw, like he was chewing on something sharp, clearly fighting with himself.
Scar waited.
The answer was the last thing he wanted to hear.
“The Watchers.”

“Why did you do it?” Scar asks quietly, his voice terrifyingly calm, far too calm for the situation.
“I don’t know,” Grian rasps. “I don’t know. I’m sorry. I’m sorry.”
But he does know. Deep down, they both know. But instead of deciding to pry further, to reopen a too-fresh wound, Scar cleans Grian’s cuts, covers them in bandages, and leads him back to bed.
It will never get easier, Scar thinks, seeing the love of his life try to destroy himself like this.

When Scott went to the trouble of finding a magic user to help him sustain his immortality, even against vampiric means of death, it seemed like a great idea. He wanted to live forever, and the magic made sure that a little stake of wood couldn't be the thing to do him in. Which was shown to be necessary, considering the attack on him that occurred soon thereafter.
Unfortunately, it seems that the upset masses scrounged themselves up a magic user too. No one so talented or skilled, of course. Only money can bring that. But the witch got their job done in a simpler way.
By enchanting the tomb they shoved him into to never open again.

“I should tell you that I missed on purpose, last night," Cuteguy says, his handgun aimed right between Scar's eyes.
Something about his face — the part Scar can see, anyway — is vaguely familiar. His nose and below are covered by a black mask. There are big, nearly rose-tinted sunglasses shoved up into his hair, which is a little bit brown but not quite all the way there. He's very pretty.
"I figured," Scar says honestly.

By day, Scar's a lawyer with little actual regard for the law. By night, he's Hotguy — Hermit City's one and only vigilante hero. Summary
Grian has a relatively calm life alone in the middle of nowhere, and he enjoys it. He spends his days drinking tea, sewing, stargazing, and watching reality TV, running a business from the comfort of his couch. He has few friends and lives completely alone— and he intends to keep it that way. However, the universe seemingly has other plans.
An alien called Scar crash-lands into his life and completely upends everything Grian thought he knew about the world. He’s escaped from his old home and can never go back. Though the two speak different languages, keep different customs and come from entirely different planets, they slowly become friends, and maybe eventually something more, as Scar embarks on the journey of learning how to be human.

Cuteguy is notoriously obsessed with his nemesis. Scar is head over heels for the friendly avian who regularly visits his café. Both of them are hiding things, and one holds a secret that could change the very city they live in.
Between layers of endless lies, social media drama and rumours of government programs, two people trek the dangerous and unpredictable pathway of love between one whom it should be impossible to have it with.
