He remembers that it used to be his favorite color, red. In some twisted way, it still is, only the meaning has been ruined, just like everything else he touches.
It’s true, though. He still loves the color. He loves red because he loves the look of rivulets of it streaming down his arms and thighs, staining his body, mind, and soul with a guilt he can never completely wash away with any amount of soap and scrubbing.
He may as well be a modern-day Lady Macbeth.
