Another ghost came to live with him, between the flowers and the trees and winding river Xie Lian kept thinking of drowning in. He said his name was San Lang. It wasn’t. It was actually Hua Cheng, but Xie Lian didn’t know how to bring that up. It wasn’t as important as everything else—gardens, flowers, silver butterflies, and sorting out his dreams from his perilous reality. Hua Cheng made space, and Xie Lian let him.
Dead god, very dead follower. It was almost funny.
He wasn’t sure what to do, seeing as he didn't plan to ascend once more, or plan to hold power over a kingdom again. Xie Lian wasn’t staying forever. The mountain would open up, and he would leave to become something catastrophic. Or he would finally disperse. Who was he to say?
