Summary
“Okay, it’s simple.” Mike says, leaning over and bumping his knee into Will’s thigh.
The game is simple, if difficult. That’s pretty much the only thing that’s simple.
For example, controlling his breathing as Mike places a hand behind Will and leans into his space to watch his game play with frustratingly attractive attention is… extremely complicated.
OR:
Mike keeps asking Will to play the Atari with him, and Will can't figure out why.

Summary
“Come on,” Mike argues. “Think of it like… a test drive. You’ll get the full Mike Wheeler boyfriend experience. It’s miserable! You’ll be over me in no time!”
They only have one last summer before they go off to college, and Will is sick of keeping his cards so close to his chest. So, in a fit of alcohol-induced bravery, he tells Mike everything.
Instead of breaking his heart, Mike proposes a deal: they’ll date for the summer. Get Mike out of Will’s system, show him he makes for a lousy boyfriend anyway, and make sure there aren’t any what-ifs waiting for him in New York.
No stone left unturned, after all.
Or: Summer brings clouds, nostalgia, and the all-consuming fear of change. They deal with it.

Summary
Mike thought he had the summer figured out: work at the local library, play shitty gigs with his band, survive the heat, repeat.
Will leaves New York and comes back home for the summer to his mom, his old room, and a town that feels smaller than he remembers, all heavy air, cicadas and open windows.
Now there’s rehearsals, bruised knees, bad decisions, and the growing, deeply inconvenient realization that some things never actually left and some others were never said at all.

MAX (slightly annoyed): Why are you doing this, again?
DUSTIN (off-camera): I’m making a documentary. One day, when someone eventually puts it together that we literally saved the world, this will be worth thousands.
MAX: I don’t know, I can’t imagine anyone wanting to pay any amount of money for a video with Mike in it.
MIKE WHEELER (off-camera): Hey!

OR: Steve Harrington gifts Dustin Henderson a camera while The Party is home from college for winter break, freshman year, 1989. They decide to start documenting... just about everything. What they didn't expect was to capture the suspicious bond between Will and Mike. Chaos ensues.
