Summary
The winter is Faerghus is not for the faint of heart. The war with Edelgard and the Black Eagles is on pause, for now. The weather is disrupting supply lines and making mobility an issue. Still, when the scouts notice a group of bandits making a home out of a nearby abandoned village, the Blue Lions can't just do nothing. But the weather is not in their favour, and what was supposed to be an easy afternoon affair turns into an overnight, snowed in survival.

Finding her savior in Tutor Feyrik, she'd been able to make a name for herself as a fighter and to keep her foster mother happy (and rich) enough to keep Rin around.
But everything is about to change as Emperor Vaisra announces The Selection for his now heir to the throne, Yin Nezha. It's an opportunity for women to compete for the prince's hand from across the empire, but Rin vehemently opposes the whole idea.
As fate would have it, she gets thrown into that same world she tried to avoid, her days now filled with civil unrest, secrecy, a strange growing power, and growing feelings for a certain infuriating prince.

Summary
Nezha hates second place. He grew up in second place behind his brother, but Sinegard Academy was supposed to be different. It was supposed to be his chance to prove he is the best. So when he gets second place behind Rin (of all people) in the First Year Combat Tournament, he realizes he has to do something drastic to earn first place: train with the only person who can beat him.
A Poppy War re-write, but I forced Rin and Nezha to be friends in Sinegard.
