Summary
Flint is on him in an instant, any thought for his own safety abandoned. There is something dreadfully wrong with Silver, that much is obvious, and he won’t let Silver’s dedication to being a stubborn arse make it worse. He reaches out to touch Silver’s sweat-damp forehead. Silver jerks away from him, but even the proximity is enough to tell Silver is burning up.
“What happened?” Silver just glares at him. The effect of it is somewhat undercut by his violent trembling. “Tell me,” Flint says, leaving no room for argument this time. The steel in his voice has persuaded much more dangerous men than John Silver.
“Breathed something,” Silver manages. His voice is high and tight with pain. “Spores or something. It’s in my throat; I can’t - It hurts.” He rubs his palms against his biceps, curling in on himself. “Don’t--”

“Would you like me to do it?” Flint offered quietly.
Silver’s head snapped up to glare at him, his usually warm eyes icy. He would have been shocked by the offer if he weren’t so busy being furious.
“I am painfully aware that I can scarcely take a piss without assistance,” he snarled, “but I am perfectly capable of brushing my own hair.”
After returning to Nassau following the events of Charlestown, Silver and Flint manage to set aside their differences for an evening.
