Lucifer had been summoned more times than he cared to keep up with. Some mortals wanted favors, others skills, while even more wanted riches and someone to warm their bed. It was tiresome and often painful for Lucifer to handle such things.
Now he stood outside, beneath a brilliant blue sky with a beating sun that burned him through his thin clothes. It had been a long time since he had been summoned. Not so long as to be forgotten but long enough he couldn’t remember the finer details. A woman sat cross-legged off to his right, with a bundle on her lap that drew his eye.
“What do you want?” Lucifer felt a mix of anger and sick pull at him as he connected what sacrifice was being offered. Why were mortals willing to sacrifice their own? He couldn’t imagine doing something close to that with his own child. The little one slept, oblivious to its fate.

Summary
Lucifer comes to two, somewhat related, realizations regarding the most prickly resident of the Hotel after the Hotel itself keeps shoving them together.
1) Alastor is terrible at taking care of himself while being absurdly competent about taking care of literally everyone and everything else while he goes about like a rabid porcupine.
2) He might have come on a little strong during their initial meeting and he might need to soften his touch just a tad and maybe make up for the insults and the manhandling and the degrading commentary.
Lucifer decides that he's going to take care of Alastor whether he likes it or not and they are both taken off guard by how much Alastor desperately needed to be cared for and how starved for affection he is.

Summary
Alastor had long since accepted that if God existed (he still had doubts) then they were a being cruel and indifferent to human suffering. One which created a system vast and complex in its laws and patterns with the intention to cause pain. That they, much like himself, must enjoy watching others suffer; if God is real then surely they revel in the agony bestowed upon humans, must garner some form of gratification from it all. Perhaps the only difference it would seem, is that for Alastor, it wasn’t fun when it wasn’t warranted.
Or: Alastor is suffering after the battle, all he wants is to make himself something sweet in the privacy of the kitchen. Too bad no one else seems to be getting the memo. Can't a demon get a moment's peace in this God forsaken hotel?
