Summary
"Happy birthday!" Daniel croons, his grin hooking his mouth wide, eyes bright and glowing with pleasure between dark eyelashes.
He holds out a small packet, haphazardly wrapped in colourful paper; a hint of pink dusts his cheeks, his heartbeat quickened with excitement and nerves; he smells sweet with it.
Slowly, Armand takes the packet from him; it's light, and when he turns it over in his hands, it emits a quiet, gentle rattle.
"Okay, birthday tutorial: at this point, we usually say 'thank you'."

Summary
Armand has apparently discovered a laundromat. One of those 24-hour joints, with stacks of extra-large machines with chipped white paint, benches polished by millions of asscheeks, and an obligatory flickering fluorescent bulb. A classic. Brings back memories of getting kicked out of the house by a soon-to-be ex-wife. Twice.
“Okay?” Daniel says, after a moment passes and Armand is still glued to the window, staring with those big lemur eyes of his.
“Let’s go inside.”
See, Daniel should have known he didn’t just mean inside the building.
Or: Armand discovers a laundromat and decides to have a spa day; Daniel almost manages not to get in trouble.

Summary
Daniel stutters and stumbles, flails for a moment, his own fang floating around in his mouth; his gag reflex makes the first appearance since it went dormant all the way back during the Nixon administration.
“Daniel?” Armand is on him in a second, eyes wide and alert. “Daniel, what’s wrong?”
People slow down and stare, concerned about the senior citizen possibly having a medical episode in the middle of the sidewalk; Armand pulls him aside; Daniel finally manages to spit the damn fang out into his hand.
“What the fuck?”
Armand coos, a happy beam on his face. “Oh, look, beloved, you’ve exfoliated! Congratulations!”
“What the fuck?!”
Or: Daniel finds out fledglings get "baby fangs" and lose the first set; Armand is a proud maker, totally normal and reasonable about his fledgling.

“That a meat thermometer?”
“Shh, everything’s fine,” Armand replies, incredibly reassuringly.
And then he stabs the thermometer directly into his own thigh.
“Jesus fucking Christ!”
“It’s fine, Daniel,” he says, and has the gall to fucking roll his eyes too, like Daniel is having some wholly unwarranted fit of the vapours. Meanwhile, there’s blood already dribbling down to his knee.
