Summary
“Louis,” Lestat said, the edges of his voice only cracking a little. Offering up the most casual and unaffected smile he could manage. “To what do I owe the pleasure this evening?”
Louis’ eyes flicked from Lestat’s face slowly downward, lingering on his bare torso in a way that made Lestat feel like he was being eaten alive. “In town on business,” he said when his eyes landed squarely on Lestat’s face again. Summary
“And what are you in the mood for, Louis?” Lestat could have fallen to his knees and wept. The beauty of Louis, his heat, his heart. What was the hurt Lestat felt compared to that? Nothing, a mere blip. “Aside from litigation and smoking my cigarettes and siphoning money from my merchandise?”
Or: After the meeting with their lawyers, Louis finds Lestat outside.

Summary
It disgusts him, the silence Lestat has chosen to feed on. It infuriates him, this passive, indulgent way of existing in the world, without raising his voice to defend what they—and no one else—know, what Louis would be willing to tear the skin from his flesh for.
“And even if it were?” Christine begins again, more bitter than she has ever been. “They were married, all right, but if we consider that valid, we should also take into account the murder your client committed, the 77 years he spent in a relationship with another man, abandoning the marital home, his choice not to resume their relationship when he had the chance, three years ago—spare yourselves the humiliation; this union is null and void, worth less than what I can grant you. They have no joint property, nor do they have any children together—"***
