“Are you fucking dying or something?” Ellie asks a week after Silver Lake.
Joel stiffens and looks like he got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. He also looks deeply confused. “Excuse me?”
“You heard me,” she says. “Are you fucking dying or something?”
She has to force the aggression a bit, but she knows Joel has been worried by her silence, so she’s tried to act more like her usual self. The usual self that she sort of feels like died in that burning steakhouse. It’s an odd role reversal now that Joel is the one who fills the silence now.
“No, kiddo, I’m fine,” Joel laughs a bit, as if the idea of him dying is preposterous. As if he wasn’t just passed out from blood loss and infection not two weeks ago.
or, joel and ellie just try to exist and heal between the terrible events of episode eight and nine. things aren't good, but they're getting better.
