“Yes,” gasped Jon gratefully. “Yes, that.”
“What a wonderful gift for the Mother of Puppets,” it teased him. “An attempt to manipulate an entire universe toward a better shape.”
This world was set on the path to its destruction too long ago, and not entirely by him. Gertrude Robinson had uncovered the keys, and Jonah Magnus had engineered the end. Jon would need to go further back than that to fix it.

In 1976, Gertrude Robinson finds James Wright dead on the floor of his office. There is a strange, angry avatar of the Eye knelt over him, covered in blood, claiming to be from the future.

Summary
Jon coughed again, and blood stained his lips and blood stained Martin’s hands where they pressed against Jon’s back and blood stained the floor beneath them and help, they needed help.
Martin doesn’t remember shouting. He barely remembers the faces that had surrounded them, wide-eyed and terrified, all utterly unfamiliar.
