He closed his hand over the flowers, digging his nails into his palm so fiercely that he considered the possibility of it drawing blood, imagining how it would blend in with the dark red of the roses, blurring the lines between him and Ada even further.

    The surgical removal of Hanahaki means forgetting about your unrequited love. Leon is forced to let go.

    “If you would let me finish,” Ada interrupted, voice a little firmer. Leon immediately deflated, blinking his eyes open to look dutifully up at her. “I’m just saying, you’ve been such a good girl for me.”

    Leon’s brain went haywire, panic and pleasure battling in every vein of his body. He tensed under her, eyes darting over her face. This wasn’t supposed to happen. He had been hiding it so well, he thought. No one was supposed to find out.

    Leon won’t be honest with herself. Ada isn’t having it.
