But standing with Dario, laughing with him, hugging him awkwardly with one arm as they each held their bottles, incidentally getting a whiff of Dario's cologne and smell that made him feel almost lightheaded–It overshadowed everything else because when he looked at Dario the rest of the world seemed just as whenever he took his glasses off to clean them.
A part of him wished the rest of the world wasn't there at all, that these strangers and acquaintances and even his friends wouldn't see it if Willie hugged him a little closer, a little longer than usual. He wondered what his beard might feel like against the skin of his lips, thought about how it might look to get that flawless exterior of his to crack a bit. That dandy look he had, all put together and innocent-looking, then he would open his pretty mouth and let loose all those quick-tongued and unruly jokes. It all made Willie want to pry him open and see what’s inside.
The elephant in the room announced itself. Willie was absolutely fucked.

Summary
Entering a lull in his life, marine biologist Fabrizio hopes that three weeks on a remote research station will help him figure out what he’s looking for in peace, even if it means living in close-quarters with a colleague he’s never met before. Fabrizio is lucky so far. His colleague Ermal is quite nice, if not a bit weird—a marine engineer who is afraid of getting into the water—and he finds himself trying to pick at his brain.
One stormy night leads to an accident that reveals much more about his colleague than Fabrizio ever thought possible, turning the course of their assignment down a strange path.

As he watched them leave further into the TARDIS, he pulled up his scarf further up his neck where a dull ache still lingered. He carefully felt around his neck with his hand. A bite, perhaps? When did that happen? Everything for the last...however much time had passed, it had been in a haze.
That didn't matter. It would heal. It would pass. Perhaps it would even be forgotten like a bruise. The TARDIS flew itself farther and farther away from 1936, and it would be the end of the longest couple days of his life. He was grateful enough to have left it at all.
It wouldn't quite leave him.
