Yoon Bum turns slowly, lowering the heat on the stove. The basement? Bum never checks the basement. That’s the one thing he told Sangwoo he wouldn’t do. He has no idea what’s down there, and the thought of Sangwoo ever treating him like he had once before is horrifying to even consider.
“I-I don’t,” Bum offers, lips quivering in a small frown. “You know that,” he encourages.
“Right, right,” Sangwoo considers, glancing at the door knob, barely acknowledging Yoon Bum at all.
“We should go down there again.”

The abrupt switch to a much more professional tone for the last question leaves Lan Xichen blinking slightly in surprise but he recovers quickly with a hum and another smile. He smiles at everyone (a lot, Nie Mingjue has told him multiple times that he finds it weird) but Jin Guangyao gets his own special smiles.
“Only what I always end with. We’re looking for -“
“A new head of your financial department, yes Lan-gege,” Jin Guangyao cuts in with another demure smile. He pairs it with an absolutely devastating doe-eyed glance through his lashes that makes Lan Xichen feel a touch too warm under the collar of his shirt - a familiar sensation when dealing with Jin Guangyao and his charms. “And I will say as I always do that I’m not currently looking for a change but I’ll keep it in mind should I ever need to.”

“Are we sure Wei Wuxian even fixed whatever’s going on?” Nie Mingjue watches Meng Yao square his shoulders and step up to take a spot next to one of the employees at the rock wall and he can’t help but frown, still concerned. “A-Yao didn’t want to participate.”
But then he’s quickly strapped into a harness around his hips and thighs and maybe it wouldn’t hurt to just….watch...for a second...
Lan Xichen’s slightly choked noise at his side is all the confirmation he needs that they’re in agreement.

“What the fuck?” Wei Wuxian says out loud, and nearly jumps out of his skin at the deep, even timbre of what is definitely not his own voice.
He sits up, sparing a single thought to marvel that he can do so completely unaided and with no discomfort at all, and spots an all-too-familiar blade resting lengthwise across the opening of the tent at his feet. Bichen sits innocently in a single thin beam of sunlight, and Wei Wuxian covers his — Lan Wangji’s? — his-for-now eyes with both hands.

Hot Guy blinks and then gets the cutest little furrow between his eyebrows like he’s trying to figure out how one’s voice could sound like a food product made of the fat solids extracted from milk.
“Thank you?” he eventually settles on, which makes Wei Ying positively beam.
“You’re welcome! Come sit with me?” Hot Guy looks over his shoulder and then around the restaurant, but he doesn’t seem to find whatever it is he’s looking for because he looks back down at Wei Ying and nods with a sort of gravitas that should be reserved for like. A fucking emperor. Wei Ying leads the man to his table which he promptly drapes himself half-over to continue watching his new friend like a hawk, a dopey smile on his lips the entire time Hot Guy plies him with fried food and a lot of glasses of water.
