This is until disgraced ex-Cardinal Vincent Benítez, a man Thomas hadn't known existed, shows up on his doorstep shivering like a dog, exiled from Rome by the new Pope who clearly knows something about Benítez that Thomas does not.
Thomas opens up his church to Vincent, his home, his heart.
