Summary
A lot has happened in the 18 months since Hawkins got divided by their biggest enemy. Normality has returned, even though the overall situation is anything but that.
Until one night when everything goes wrong and it spirals out of control.
During all of it Will learns to accept himself and realizes how important it is to be able to count on your loved ones.
Because Will and his friends are facing a major battle.
And the biggest question we have to ask ourselves is: Can love defeat fear?
Or: My rewrite of ST5 in which Byler will be canon

Summary
Will’s brain buffered. Sure, they'd made out in the summer. But none of that had felt the way this moment did. Back in Hawkins, it only happened during the nights, with the lights turned off so they’d barely seen each other. It had felt secretive and almost illegal, like they were committing a sin there was no redemption for.
_
In which turbulent summer nights leave Mike and Will uncertain about what they are, until Mike visits Will in New York for Thanksgiving break.

Summary
“Don’t you remember?” Lucas asked softly. “When we were kids? Like, sixth grade. We all said we’d be in each other’s weddings.” He chuckled. “And Mike called dibs on being my best man, and then you and Dustin started freaking out, because you were both gonna call dibs, so I said you could all do it. Remember? I need all my best men.”
Will puffed out his cheeks, running a hand through his hair. He already hadn’t lived up to that twice now. He’d missed Dustin’s wedding, he hadn’t even been invited to Mike’s (not that he’d expected to be.) This was his last shot.
And something about it seemed final. If he missed this, then that was it. He had no doubt they’d still try to reach out, but it wouldn’t be the same. He would’ve broken something he couldn’t fix.
He sighed.
“Okay.”
Ten years after the end of the world, Lucas and Max get married.
It's a mess.

Summary
If you asked anyone in Will's life they'd say he's moved on, and technically it is true — he's found new friends, had (and loved) a few boyfriends, done things his younger self wouldn't even think possible. Still, it wouldn't be entirely accurate, because that's not how Will sees it: moving on is a "directional" term, it implies the existence of a straight line connecting point A (the past) to point B (the future) that everyone must walk, regardless of what, or who, is left behind.
And this is something Will simply can't accept.
He has learned to live without El because he had to, but that doesn't mean he's moved on from her. Nor that he wants to.
He has learned to live without Mike too. But moving on? Na-ah.
OR
After years of miscommunication and regrets, in the late 90s Mike and Will lose touch for good.
One night in 2002 Karen Wheeler calls Will at his Montauk home and tells him that her son has just tried to kill himself.
And that, apparently, Mike still needs himSeries
