Summary
Hikaru blinked. A red glow gathered in his pupils as Yoshiki's soul came into focus. So bright. So pretty. Hikaru was sure, Yoshiki's soul was the prettiest thing he'd ever seen. He always felt drawn to it. Just being near it made the endless void of his insides feel a bit warmer. Without thinking, he sat up and crawled towards that warmth he always craved. He was kneeling by Yoshiki's bed, arms resting on the edge, before he realized what he was doing.
Can't do that to him, he thought.

I have to hide it somewhere safe. But where? Since Tanaka found out about the fragment, the company probably could too. Maybe even easier than Tanaka did…
Maybe he should give it back to Hikaru after all. But Hikaru had refused it before, saying he didn’t know if it would bring him back to normal. He even said it might disappear into his void forever. Maybe Hikaru should eat the fragment anyways. Even if it disappeared, that would still mean the company wouldn’t get their hands on it, right? Or would something crazy happen if Hikaru tried that…?
Eat the fragment…

No way…That was… certainly one place to hide it.

"Do you want to try feeling inside me again?" Hikaru asks, eyes bright.
"Would I learn anything new, doing it again?" Yoshiki asks a little skeptically. He has tried it twice already, and if anything, he understands Hikaru less.
"Probably not," Hikaru says, but he hasn't moved, and his eyes remain fixed on Yoshiki.
Yoshiki knows that it would be colossally stupid. He's messing with things he doesn't understand, and he doesn't really need Kurebayashi's warnings to know it's dangerous for himself and those around him. He worries that with each brush against whatever lies beneath Hikaru's skin, he loses more of his humanity, that someday he'll be corrupted beyond recognition.
And yet, a part of him wants.

In which Yoshiki takes a break from research to try touching Hikaru again.

"For just a moment, ‘Hikaru’ wondered what it would feel like to let his insides out, to sink into the soft flesh and individually caress the multitude of cells teeming with warmth and vitality. It was tempting—terribly so—but ‘Hikaru’ figured he should ask Yoshiki before doing something like that. Yoshiki still got a little jittery whenever ‘Hikaru’s’ insides came out.
As much as ‘Hikaru’ liked being inside Yoshiki, there was something just as nice about being able to hug Yoshiki from the outside."

Yoshiki tried to think. "Um... I don't think so. What's it say on there?"
Hikaru squinted at the screen. "'A person who does not experience sexual attraction.' Huh."
Hikaru learns that maybe some aspects of himself aren't as inhuman as he thought.

Hikaru doesn’t get it. He doesn’t get any of it.
Some days, it feels like Yoshiki just wants as much distance between himself and Hikaru as he can get. Other days, it’s like being away from Hikaru would kill him. Hikaru can’t tell what’s gonna set Yoshiki off or not, and it’s not like looking at the memories would help. He got moody like this before, but only when Hikaru tried to talk about girls or Yoshiki leaving one day, and never for as long as he does now.
Is he doing something wrong?
“Hey, Yoshiki?” he calls ahead. “What d’ya reckon we should do for my birthday?”
Or; ‘Hikaru’ celebrates his sixteenth birthday. Hikaru doesn’t.
